During the month of November, between the leftover Halloween candy and Thanksgiving treats, I hit the sweets pretty hard, was a little slack on my workouts, and by the end of the month felt pretty blah. At the beginning of December I recommitted to working out most days of the week and treating sweets as treats rather than something to be eaten whenever I feel like it. Already I’m feeling better!
In terms of working out, I have been on a roll this month. Despite the cold, I have been hitting the pavement running like a champ–yes, I am feeling quite proud of myself. 🙂
Frosty grass calls for fleece-lined spandex.
Here’s what the last week looked like for me in terms of fitness:
Saturday: Kickboxing video
Sunday: Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred
Monday: Run-40 minutes, easy
Tuesday: 30-Day Shred
Wednesday: Run-30 minutes, intervals + walk- 60 minutes
Thursday: 30-Day Shred + walk- 15 minutes
Friday: Run- 45 minutes
Jillian’s 30-Day Shred is tough–for those who don’t know, it’s a circuit-style exercise DVD that combines strength with cardio–but it’s not kicking my butt like the last two times I did it. I take that as a sign that I am more in shape these days! 🙂
I do love being able to workout in my living room with the blinds closed 😀
On Wednesday morning I took a really funny photo by accident. Running friends, you may understand what I am about to explain. Or perhaps I will just sound vain or weird. 😉 Sometimes when I am running in the morning, when the sun is low, and I pass a solid fence, I think, “Wow, my shadow looks cool. I wish I had a photo of that!” On Wednesday this happened, and I decided to pull out my phone and try to get the shot. However, by the time I took off my gloves and opened the camera, the terrain had changed a little bit, so there was a small hill leading up to the fence. Here’s the result:
Bahahaha. My bottom half is on the hill in the foreground, and my upper half is on the fence, making it look like I have the tiniest waist and the biggest booty ever. And with the tree, I look like I’m holding a gun. I was really amused. 😀
And finally, because I like food and like posting pictures of food, here’s what we had for dinner last night:
Rosemary balsamic chicken, roasted Brussels sprouts, and quinoa. Yum. 🙂
Have a great Friday, everyone!
-What does your weekly workout schedule look like currently?
-Have you ever taken a photo of your shadow while running (or wanted to)?
Halloween treats and thanksgiving desserts totally had a negative effect on my workout mood
hahahahahahha! That photo is brilliant! It’s like a Kim Kardashian BOOTAY! Too funny. Ugh, I hear you on the sugar in take! I feel like there are treats everywhere and EVERYONE is eating them so I think it’s okay, but I really have been trying to treat treats like TREATS! Way to go with all of the workouts – you are putting me to shame! 😀 I have been doing more yoga lately and not so much running.. but I am okay with that 😉 Have a great weekend!
Baahahah. Actually laughed out loud at your running picture. Hilarious. And you go girl!! It sounds like you’ve been awesome keeping active. That’s the perfect thing to feel better going into the holidays! Can you send me some of your motivation?? 😉
Hahaha your running picture is LOL funny! I’ve never taken a picture of my shadow (don’t normally run with my phone), but I usually check myself out in my shadow/any mirroed surface that I run by. I know others out there do it too 😉
I love how much better I feel when I work out regularly- it makes me so annoyed with myself for slacking off in the first place! I started running more consistently a few weeks ago and feel so much better, I even managed to finish a 14 mile run yesterday! Love the photo and definitely want to try shred!
I have cut sweets out of my diet completely for a couple weeks and have felt so much better. Until I crave a cookie like crazy!! It’s totally worth it though. hA!
Mmm, roasted Brussels sprouts! I’m glad you got your workout and food routines back in gear even before Christmas, that’s impressive. I figure skate, so I’m continuing to do that, but because my knees have been bothering me I’m doing little to no jumping this last week or so, and I’ve picked up some PT routines I was given in the past to try to build up some strength that will help my knees. It’s hard to fit it in the PT with all the pre-Christmas craziness but so far I’m getting it done.
I bet figure skating is an awesome workout! I hope you were able to get in the PT for your knees before Christmas!
Hehe the running photo looks awesome! So i’ve tried JM’s 30 day shred level 1 via youtube, and am contemplating investing for level 2, have you tried it yet? Would be great to get your opinion!
Yeah! Level 2 is tough, but really good (as is level 3). It’s the same format as level 1, but with all different moves!
